Associate Professor Feng-Cheng Chang as Keynote Speaker at Tropical Forestry 2021

Tropical Forestry 2021 is a virtual international conference organized by the Faculty of Tropical Forestry, Universiti Malaysia Sabah on December 14-15, 2021. The conference will bring together researchers and scholars in the field of forestry science, especially in the field of tropical forestry, from home and abroad to share knowledge, present the latest research results, and provide a platform for researchers in related fields to exchange, discuss and establish collaboration. Associate Professor Feng-Cheng Chang from the School of Forestry and Resources Conservation was invited to give a presentation entitled "Development of Bamboo Fiber Reinforced Composite Materials" at the conference. Prof. Chang shared the latest research results on the development of bamboo fiber-reinforced composite materials. Bamboo is distributed all over the world, with about 70 genera and 1250 species. The global bamboo forest area is about 22 million hectares. The main production areas are the humid tropical regions, and about 85% of the bamboo forests are in Asia. In addition, in terms of market value, bamboo as a rapidly renewable green material shows great market potential, and the development of green materials and products using bamboo materials will be an important direction in the field of biomaterials in the future. Prof. Chang's speech was also well received by the audience and will be discussed with University of Sabah Malaysia to develop related collaborative research in the future.
