Intelligent Technology Alliance takes the lead in global layout.

Create a new benchmark for intellectual agriculture.

College of Bioresources and Agriculture, National Taiwan University and Wageningen University and Research, the Netherlands, co-establish a joint research center!

The College of Bioresources and Agriculture, National Taiwan University (CBA-NTU) and Wageningen University & Research (WUR) in the Netherlands signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on April 8, 2024, aiming to establish the joint research center (JRC) and jointly develop and lead International innovative agricultural technology to cope with the severe impact of climate change on agricultural cultivation and production systems.

Under the witness of Mr. Rick Nobel, Director of the Agriculture Section of the Netherlands Office Taipei, CBA-NTU and WUR announced on April 8 that their cooperation will set a new benchmark for the development of intelligent technology agriculture and further jointly lay out global high-end agricultural technology and industries.

Yu-Pin Lin, Dean of CBA-NTU, stated that this collaboration will integrate the professional strengths and research resources of the two institutions, focusing on optimizing crop growth patterns to accurately manage agricultural operations, using artificial intelligence technology to improve the monitoring of greenhouse crop production efficiency, and applying data science to establish Digital phenotyping technology which is used to select climate-resistant crop varieties and develop advanced circular agriculture models to reduce waste generation and carbon emissions, which are world-leading benchmark technologies.

Being an advancing leader in research and innovation in agriculture, Wageningen University and Research not only enjoys a global reputation, but also is ranked first in the QS World University Rankings in the field of agriculture and forestry. WUR research team cooperates with agricultural enterprises and governments to actively promote various innovative projects and technology applications, including agricultural technology, data analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence, making outstanding contributions and achievements to global agriculture.

Yu-Pin Lin also added that, in addition to cultivating outstanding transnational talents, CBA-NTU and WUR have also reached consensus on diversified cooperation in smart agricultural science and technology, introducing advanced industrial resources from the two countries to jointly create an international and innovative scientific and technological agricultural research platform. Not only will we jointly solve the major challenges we are now  facing in global agriculture in temperate and subtropical zones, we will also create Taiwan’s Agricultural Science and Technology Silicon Valley.
