農經系陸怡蕙教授與國際專班指導學生 Masanori Matsuura  Climate Variability, Livelihood Diversification, and Household Food Security in Bangladesh 一文 ,在亞洲農業經濟學會(Asian Society of Agricultural Economists)舉辦之第十屆ASAE國際研討會,由134篇論文中脫穎而出,獲得最佳論文首獎 (First prize of the Best Paper Award)的最高肯定。

The paper "Climate Variability, Livelihood Diversification, and Household Food Security in Bangladesh," coauthored by Prof. Yir-Hueih Luh and Mr. Masanori Matsuura in the Department of Agricultural Economics, won first prize of the Best Paper Award at the 10th Asian Society of Agricultural Economists International Conference. Only one first prize, two second prizes, and three third prizes were selected out of 134 papers presented in the conference. Taking adaptation strategies to mitigate the impact of climate change is one of the five goals of SDG 13. This first-prize winning paper investigates the empirical linkages among climate variability, livelihood diversification and household food security, exploiting three waves of nationally representative household data merged with granular climate data in Bangladesh. It is found that climate variability affects diversification strategies adopted by Bangladesh farmers through which farm household food security is improved. These findings highlight the importance of rural development policies and programs that are designed to strengthen the support for vulnerable smallholder farmers to adapt to climate change.
